His Excellency Dr. Darem Tabbaa, Minister of Education, discussed with the partners of the education sector from international organizations, physically and virtually, the joint action plan for the post-earthquake phase. He assessed the educational reality, and the preparations for the general certificate exams, on 27/2/2023, in the presence of the Secretary of the Syrian National Commission for UNESCO, Dr. Nidal Hasan. and the Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Education, Ghassan Shogari.   More
 
His Excellency Dr. Darem Tabbaa, Minister of Education, received the delegation of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab Countries in Beirut at the end of his visit to the city of Aleppo, which lasted from 24-27/2/2023 where the delegation informed him about the visit outcomes which targeted to be acquainted of the damages that resulted from the earthquake and evaluating them.   More
 
While presenting his credentials as a Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to UNESCO, Ambassador, Louay Fallouh, informed Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) about the efforts of the Syrian government to confront terrorist acts that targeted educational and cultural institutions and archaeological sites, and pointed to the repercussions of the earthquake that struck Syria, which led to thousands of deaths and injuries, as well as the damages in the infrastructure and educational and archaeological sites, where some of which are registered on the World Heritage List. The ambassador confirmed that the illegal coercive measures imposed on Syria increased the repercussions of the earthquake, in addition to the recent Israeli aggression against Syria, which targeted an archaeological site in Damascus which is considered as a part of the world cultural heritage.   More
