To inspect the earthquake damage, the UNESCO Delegation visits Aleppo
The visit covered the ancient city of Aleppo, the National Museum, the ancient Citadel of Aleppo, a number of damaged schools, and those schools that are used as shelters for affected students and their families. The delegation listened to the difficulties they faced and their requirements and needs.
The delegation included Messrs. Marco Pasqualini, Education Programs Specialist, Dania Dirani, Education Programs Coordinator, Elena Constantino, Culture Programs Specialist, Michel Shalhoub, Consultant at UNESCO, Issa Tahan, Programs Coordinator of the UNESCO Office in Aleppo, and Mohammed Aizouqi, Programs Coordinator of the Office in Damascus.
The delegation was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary of the National Commission for UNESCO in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Nidal Hassan, the Director of Antiquities and Museums, Eng. Nazeer Awad, and his team, the Director of Aleppo Education, Eng. Mustafa Abdel-Ghani, the Head of the Planning and International Cooperation Department at the Education Directorate of Aleppo, Firas Al-Ali, and representatives of the Syrian Trust for Development. and a team from Finnish Aid.
