The Syrian Arab Republic enters the International Convention against Doping in Sports.
The Syrian Arab Republic enters the international convention against doping in sports on 13/5/2013. The convention enters into force with respect to the Syrian Arab Republic on the 1st of July 2013. H.E the Ambassador, Mrs. Lamya Shakkour, the Syrian permanent delegate to UNESCO received an official confirmation letter of that; during her reception with Mr. Marsolan Dali , officer in charge of the program of fighting against doping in sports, from the office of the Vice-Secretary General of UNESCO – Division of social & humanitarian sciences. The reception of the two parties included discussions about the preliminary measurements to activate this convention, and to go through the guidelines of the national report that will be prepared for the 4th session of the conference of the convention’s state parties, which will be held in Paris during the period 19-20/9/2013.
Mr. Dali assured the importance of the Syrian participation in this conference where Syria now functions as a member state in this convention for the first time. He mentioned that Syria’s report will be delivered in an interactive electronic one, and it will be automatically released and disseminated globally, as soon as the Syrian government filled all data needed in Arabic.
Syria is becoming now the Member State No. 174 which enters the international convention against doping in sports.
