Under the patronage of H.E. Emad Mouafak Al-Azeb, The Minister of Education, Chairman of the Syrian National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Education and the General Sports Federation, in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in the Arab States / Beirut, two national workshops on "Doping risks, control and response to their spread" were held; the first one in Damascus 3-5 July 2019 and the second in Lattakia 9-11 July 2019.
Representatives from the concerned bodies from the governorates of / Damascus - Damascus countryside - Quneitra - Dar`aa - As-Suwayda - Deir Ezzor - Hasaka /participated in the first one.

Among the most important themes covered by the workshops:
Introducing the International Convention against Doping in Sport, and the role of UNESCO, its programmes and recommendations for sport and physical education free of doping, the regulations to address its spread, the damaging effects on health, society and the preventive measures to prevent the spread of doping.
At the end of the workshop the outcomes and recommendations were presented to be followed up, and certificates were distributed to the participants.
