In the context of responding to the Corona pandemic, the Ministry of Education in the Syrian Arab Republic, represented by:
• Dr. Abdul Hakim Al-Hammad / Deputy of the Minister of Education.
• Dr. Yasser Noah / Director of Informatics.
• Mr. Al-Muthanna Khadour / Director of Guidance.
In the regional electronic meeting, which was organized by the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab Countries - Beirut, in cooperation with the Regional Center for Educational Planning on "The future of education after the Corona pandemic", on Tuesday, June 16th 2020, to discuss the global efforts in emergencies, the purpose of education and its organizing in a changing world, especially after the Corona pandemic as well as providing continuous support for education in Arab countries after this pandemic.
The mentioned meeting was based on the symposium entitled "Rethinking in Education" that was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, in Egypt in 2017, through reaffirming the 2016 Cairo Declaration, to rethink education, as this discussion formed part of the Future of Education initiative launched by UNESCO In September 2019.
The discussion aimed to:
- Studying the impacts of the Corona pandemic on the continuation of education in the Arab region.
- Reviewing the challenges facing the implementation of the national response to distant-education.
- Lessons learned from the Corona crisis to create scenarios for the future of education.
This meeting formed an expanded platform for the exchange of learned lessons. The views of international educational thinkers regarding the future of education during and after the Corona pandemic were presented.
