Partners Forum: "Strengthening Information and Data Management Systems in the Education Sector for Developing Resilience in the Face of Crises
In the context of strengthening the information management system in the education sector, which is indispensable for enriching educational strategies in emergency situations and building national capacities, the Ministry of Education, has participated in that meeting represented by:
- Dr. Yasser Noah, The Director of Informatics.
- Ghassan Al-Shughri, The Director of Planning and International Cooperation.
First, A virtual forum for partners, in cooperation with implementing and strategic partners, held on September 10th, 2020; in order to publish the main findings of the basic information sheet and define concrete next steps for managing education data in emergencies and the information management system in the education sector in crises.
The forum focused on raising awareness of the importance of the information management system in the education sector in times of crises, in order to develop the resilience of educational systems in the face of protracted emergencies and crises, and the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on educational data, and provided updated information on the progress achieved. UNESCO, in this field, and presenting the general findings of the recently prepared background paper that summarizes /6/ case studies conducted in (Syria - Chad - Ethiopia - Palestine - Uganda - South Sudan).
As for the breakout sessions, they emphasized two topics:
• Harmonization of data and processes related to managing education data in emergencies through international standards and guidelines.
• Adaptation of information management systems in the education sector in crises to enrich the efforts made to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies effectively.
Second: The virtual meeting under the title of Efficiency and Effectiveness in Selecting and Using the Educational Information Management System.
To announce the official launch of joint efforts to improve the educational information management system, this was held on September 16th, 2020.
The meeting included valuable presentations on the structure of the educational information management system, identifying its basic components of infrastructure, data applications, and how to extract indicators and information to be used in planning.
